Don't create the wrong impression
Why does it matter?
Who are Get It Write?
A letter says much more about you than merely what its words convey. If the document you send to a prospective employer, client or anyone else whose opinion is important contains poor spelling, punctuation or grammar you’re letting yourself down from the start.
We all make mistakes - that’s what Spell Check was invented for - but although your word processor will pick up glaring typos and repetitions, it won’t spot when you’re using the wrong word and it won’t care about dangling participles, inappropriate capitalisation or jargon for example. Most importantly, your computer doesn’t have a feel for the English language - so it can’t make your prose more elegant and eloquent.
We can! And we can do it quickly from as little as £10.
Of course you could argue that ‘correct’ English doesn’t matter as long as the reader understands you. OK - but, taking a job application as an example, if your covering letter shows a lackadaisical approach to business communication, you could forgive the reader for suspecting a similar lack of diligence in your work.
Check out our GOOFS page for some examples of how the simplest mistakes or omissions can change the meaning of a sentence completely - often with disastrous or at best amusing consequences!

Not just a bunch of pedants!
Unlike some proof-readers we're not in the business of nit-picking for the sake of it. In our view, good writing's all about the context. So if your message warrants a laid-back approach to language, that's what we'll keep in mind. If it's supposed to be very formal, we'll do that too. For example, it's NOT necessarily wrong to begin a sentence with 'and' - but sometimes it is. Sometimes worrying about split infinitives is just splitting hairs... It's all a matter of context, taste and style. We're here to make sure your document says exactly what you need to say in precisely the way it should be said.
What does it cost?
See our PRICES page for full details - but as we say above, you can get a basic letter checked and corrected for as little as £10 - or £20 if you need it within 24 hours. Of course, things get more complicated with longer documents or when you'd like seriously creative input. Just send us the document or an outline and we'll give you an idea of the cost.
